BCD 3RD ANNUAL YOUTH FORUM

To get the build-up to various activations that will lead up to the end of the year when the world commemorates the annual International Disability day underway, Botswana Council for the Disabled held its annual Youth Forum on October 17th -18th at Botho University. This year’s forum was split into two phases and was held in partnership with the Mindset Change campaign and Botho University .
Held under the theme; Mindset Change in PWDs towards active participation in leadership roles, the forum proved to be an informative and engaging event where youth with disabilities networked and gained access to information on various aspects of services and products as presented by our partners. Stakeholder partners such as the American Embassy, the Ministry of Communications, Knowledge and Technology, and Absa, graced our forum and afforded our youth with disabilities the opportunity to be informed on an array of services that could benefit them greatly in their careers and personal lives.

One of the stand-out highlights of our forum was when the Mindset Change leader & Chief of Staff to the President Mr Boyce Sebetela delivered a stirring speech intended to help our youth with disabilities shift their perspective and self-perception in order to rise above societal stigma.
Soon after, the event became even more exciting as the Director of Rite Cardinal Holdings, Mr. Mokaraga donated a specialized cerebral palsy wheelchair to the Botswana Council for the Disabled for the benefit of persons with disabilities.
