STAKEHOLDERS ENGAGEMENT WORKSHOP COMMENCES IN HUKUNTSI TO PROMOTE HUMAN RIGHTS FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES

The Botswana Council for the Disabled has officially launched a two-day stakeholders engagement workshop in Hukuntsi District, aimed at advancing the rights and access to justice for persons with disabilities in Botswana. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts under the project titled *”Promoting Human Rights and Access to Justice for People with Disabilities in Botswana.”*
The workshop seeks to bring together key stakeholders, including government representatives, civil society organizations, community leaders, and advocates for disability rights, to foster dialogue and collaboration. By addressing systemic barriers and promoting inclusive policies, the event underscores the importance of ensuring that individuals with disabilities are afforded equal opportunities and protection under the law.
Persons with disabilities in Botswana continue to face challenges related to accessibility, discrimination, and limited representation in decision-making processes. This workshop serves as a platform for stakeholders to identify gaps in existing frameworks and propose actionable solutions to strengthen the promotion of human rights for this marginalized group.
The Botswana Council for the Disabled remains committed to its mission of empowering persons with disabilities and ensuring their full participation in society. Through initiatives such as this workshop, the organization aims to create a more inclusive and equitable environment where all individuals can thrive without fear of exclusion or injustice.
The outcomes of this engagement are expected to inform future strategies and policies that prioritize the needs of persons with disabilities, particularly in accessing justice. The Council hopes to build sustainable partnerships that will drive long-term progress in disability rights advocacy across the nation.
As the workshop progresses, participants are encouraged to share insights, best practices, and innovative approaches that can contribute to achieving a more inclusive Botswana.
