NAHPA Disability Project
DISABILITY PROJECT: INREASING ACCESS TO HIV/AIDS, NCD’s, COVID 19 AND HUMAN RIGHTS SERVICES TO PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES
The Botswana Council for the Disabled is currently contracted by NAHPA to coordinate a Disability Project in various parts of the country. The overall aim of the project is to increase access to HIV/AID, Non-Communicable Diseases, Covid 19 and Human Rights services to people with disabilities and to ultimately strengthen disability organisations skills to deliver comprehensive services to persons with disabilities. The project is running for a second term since its inception and official launch in 2021 and is currently working with 6 organisations to carry out its mandate. These organizations are namely; Kanye Independent Living Centre (Kanye), Botswana Association of the Deaf and Botswana Association of the Blind and Partially Sighted (Gaborone), Madikwe Community Care Group (Kgatleng), Tshidilo Stimulation Centre (Maun) and Trust for Community initiatives (Francistown). These organizations work through the support of Community Mobilizers to carry out the project activities. The mobilisers were selected from the same organizations and it is worth noting that persons with disabilities have been recruited to be part of the teams.
